For parents & caregivers

Bring your baby scientist along.

Babies are little scientists from day one. Our research helps families understand how — and gives caregivers trusted resources for the first three years.

What to expect

  • You're with your baby the whole time

Caregivers and babies are never separated. You're an active part of every activity.

  • We work around your family

Evenings, weekends, naps, sibling care — we plan around what works for you.

  • You leave with something useful

Families are compensated for their time and receive insights about how their baby is growing.

Family FAQs

  • How is my participation beneficial?

Our research investigates how young children learn from the world around them. Findings help us better understand the experiences that support early brain and behavioral development — and inform policy that helps families.

  • Will I be separated from my child at any point?

No. You'll be with your child the entire time and an active participant in every activity.

  • Is childcare available for siblings?

Yes. Just let us know in advance and we'll have a research assistant available to play with your other children during the visit.

  • What do I need to bring?

Just yourself, your baby, and anything you'd normally bring when you and the baby leave the house.

  • When can we schedule appointments?

Most appointments happen 9am–5pm Monday to Friday, with some early-evening and weekend slots. We work around your child's schedule (including naps) as best we can.

  • Do you support languages other than English?

Yes — our team and materials support multiple languages including Spanish, Mandarin, and others. Please tell us what's most comfortable for your family.
