Family Interactions and Neural Synchrony

FINS · Caregiver-child dyads

Recording the brains of caregiver and baby together as they interact.

About the study

Early learning is a social process. The ability to initiate interactions, respond appropriately, and take turns during bouts of communication are important aspects of growing up in a social world. FINS uses EEG hyperscanning to simultaneously record neural responses of the caregiver-child dyad while interacting in a series of semi-naturalistic tasks.

  • Dual-EEG hyperscanning of caregiver and child
  • Semi-naturalistic interaction tasks
  • Examines neural synchrony as a window into social learning
