In their own words

Families on what it's actually like.

We invited caregivers to share what participating in our research felt like — naps, fussiness, snacks and all.

  • The team made us feel like our baby's noises and squirms were the data — not a problem. We left feeling like science actually saw our family.

  • I was nervous about EEG. The researchers explained everything, gave us breaks whenever we needed, and our daughter ended up loving the cap.

  • Doing surveys from my phone three times a week was honestly the easiest thing I did postpartum. And the Fitbit was a nice bonus.

  • We spoke Spanish at home and the researchers met us in Spanish. They cared about our family the way we are, not the way they expected.

  • I appreciated that they followed up months later with what they learned. It felt like real partnership, not just data collection.

  • My twins were a handful and the lab was so flexible. They scheduled around naps, fed us snacks, and made it feel like a playdate.
